Gwom Rim, Da Dagyang Dahoro, Passes Away: YIAVHA Honours His Legacy of Commitment to Community-Led Youth and Women Peace and Security Agenda

The Youth Initiative Against Violence and Human Rights Abuse (YIAVHA) has joined the Rim Traditional Council and the entire Rim community in mourning the passing of His Royal Highness, Da Dagyang Dahoro, the esteemed Gwom Rim.

During a condolence visit to the palace, YIAVHA Executive Director Jacob Choji Pwakim delivered a heartfelt message, describing the late monarch as a visionary leader who championed the implementation of the UNSCR1325 and 2250 on youth, women, peace, and security 

“His Royal Highness Da Dagyang Dahoro was not just a leader; he was a beacon of hope and a pillar of support for the stability  of Rim,” the statement read. “His unwavering belief in YIAVHA’s work and other development initiatives, combined with his commitment to the well-being of his people, will remain an enduring legacy.”

The late Gwom Rim was celebrated for his dedication to fostering peace and development. His strong support for YIAVHA’s initiatives, including the Preventing Violent Extremism Extra (PCVE Extra) and Building Bridges for Peace (BB4Peace) projects, created transformative opportunities that enhanced peace and security in Rim. His vision for a united and thriving community inspired many and will leave an enduring impact.

In reaffirming its commitment, YIAVHA promised to continue its work in Rim, upholding the values His Royal Highness embodied: compassion, unity, and progress.

“As we mourn this monumental loss, we stand in solidarity with the Rim community and pray for strength and comfort for his family, the Rim and Riyom Traditional Councils, and all those mourning his passing,” the statement concluded.

Speaking on behalf of the Rim Traditional Council, the Acting Gwom Rim, Da Samuel Nzorong Nya, expressed gratitude to YIAVHA for their visit. “This visit shows the dedication of YIAVHA to the community and the close relationship built over the years with the late leader. We hope the organisation will continue to impact our community even after his demise,” he said.

The late Gwom Rim’s legacy of leadership, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his people will remain an inspiration for generations to come. YIAVHA joins the Rim community in praying for his soul to rest in eternal peace and calls on development partners to consolidate its work in the community especially in the area of consolidating relationships between farmers and herders.
