Our story
Established in 2014, the organization initially focused on engaging youth in Jos, Plateau State, in response to the escalating crisis that had inflicted significant harm on lives and property. Official registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) of Nigeria, under part C of the Company and Allied Matters Act (CAMA), was successfully completed on May 25th, 2016. This accreditation conferred legal recognition as a non-profit, non-governmental, and autonomous entity within Nigeria. Operating under the Youth Initiative Against Violence & Human Rights Abuse (YIAVHA), the organization emerged from the imperative to address the burgeoning crisis in Jos and the exclusion of young people from decision-making processes. YIAVHA’s core approach is to unite youths, regardless of religious affiliations, and facilitate their inclusion in dialogue forums aimed at fostering peace and reconciliation.
